Pilate, as believers know, asked Christ, "What is Truth?"
Science today has perverted that question and asks, "What is proof?"
And so, as usual, after an intensive study on the Shroud is publicized, showing once again that the cloth is beyond human comprehension, the typical rock-throwing begins (for super vicious rock-throwing, it's easy to find many British "scientists" and "journalists" eager to fulfill the bill).
We are never surprised reading the idiotic, illogical and downright dumb comments most skeptics make regarding the peer-reviewed science that surrounds the cloth, but we are always amazed at how those in the sindonological community itself help the debunkers' unscientific cause by giving aid to the enemy.
And so, unusually, this time the question revolves not around what the latest study revealed regarding the outrageous attributes of this unique miraculous linen, but on one word:
Proof.
What did the study prove?
Why it didn't prove anything, some in the sindonological community have had the audacity to claim. We have to be very careful when using that word, so they state.
Watch out what you read in the media or on various websites, they caution.
Yes. Watch out. But we say watch out for those who have reputations they wish to keep.
We have no reputation.
Therefore, speaking militantly about the Truth will not endanger our next research grant, or our name and standing within the sindonological community. Nor within scientific "circles."
However, people with reputations are guarded against ultimate Truth; maybe it's black, maybe white, perhaps it falls into the "gray" category. That is what these people do with the Truth. They run it into circles.
Until it is so diluted and watered down, it no longer has any meaning. Nor validity.
The result is it makes it even easier for the skeptics to claim victory.
Unfortunately, their victory in masking and clouding the Truth that surrounds the Shroud is, in reality, a victory for the deceiver: the promulgator of darkness, deceit, lies, and confusion.
" ... and he that gathereth not with Me scattereth" Matthew 12:30.
It is not an accident that the Lord has allowed His Shroud to miraculously survive 2,000 years.
It is not an accident that the cloth bears not only the Image of His Passion, but of His death.
It is not an accident that science, a Latin word whichs means "to know" does not know how the Image on the cloth came to be.
The Lord is using His burial cloth to confound the very "discipline" which seeks to discredit Him.
A discipline that "scatters" rather than a disciple who "gathers" souls for the Lord.
People can dispute the latest findings that claim it would take a VUV laser 34 terrawatts to perhaps simulate the ghostly Image the human eye can see on the Shroud. (We laughed when some scientific-minded person disputed the study's use of the number 34 thousand billion watts instead of the more technically correct 34 terrawatts, but which number gives the average person the true concept of the amount of power needed to replicate the Image?)
But people, whether in the sindonology community or in the greater world of skepticism, cannot dispute what the peer-reviewed study PROVES and concludes with earlier research.
It proves the Shroud could not have been made in the Middle Ages.
It proves no one, even with today's most sophisticated technology (despite their fabricated claims), can replicate the Image on the Shroud in any way.
It proves those who say otherwise, yesterday, today or for ever, are liars.
And the liars fall into the "scatters" category.
For God did not leave this miraculous cloth for it to be endlessly debated, nor to split hairs over the meaning of words like"proof."
He left it to gather.
He left it for the Doubting Thomases to put their finger in His side and believe.
He left it for His Church to proclaim from the rooftops, not hide nor shy away from the debate.
He left it for His Saints to instinctually venerate His burial cloth as proof of its authenticity.
He left it to prove to the world the indisputable: the Truth of His Resurrection.
The Proof that He is yesterday, today and for ever, the Son of God.
Feast of St. Francis de Sales
Doctor of the Church who proclaimed the Shroud is "the Holy Standard of our Salvation."
Proof: "any evidence that establishes or helps to establish the truth, validity, quality, etc., of something."
Evidence: "from Latin e-, 'out,' and videre, 'to see'— is information that helps form a conclusion; proof is factual information that verifies a conclusion."
Prove: 1. "to establish the truth or validity of by presentation of argument or evidence." 2. "to establish the quality of, esp by experiment or scientific analysis."

The ghostly Image of our Crucified King barely visible on the Shroud as photographed after its 2002 restoration. The Holy Face of Jesus rests approximately in the center of the cloth with bloodied arms halfway down, while the top half of the linen contains the Image of the back of our Savior with His bloodied feet at the very top of the cloth.
This is because the Image only resides on the innermost fibers of the Shroud which was folded over the Body of Christ before His Resurrection as He lay in the tomb.
Now spend one nanosecond to Eternity contemplating how a 3-dimensional Image can be made from that ghostly Image shown above to what can only been seen on the right with the technological achievements of holography and computers: two inventions that did not exist during the Middle Ages.
Are you tired yet of the skeptics insulting your intelligence when they claim that the cloth is a medieval fake or that they can replicate it? In reality, the deception is they have no proof.
Indeed, we have learned skeptics can only fall into one of two categories: 1. intellectually dishonest because they cannot come to grips with the reality of Him; or 2. they are outright liars.
Please choose either when listening to their feeble, fearful, childish, and know-nothing attacks.
