The World: 25 YEARS OF
LIES AND DECEPTION
The world is always trying to drown out His Voice.
It is impossible for the world to do so, but because many want to disregard the Voice of the Lord, it is easy for this drowning to occur.
And when it does, Truth is always the victim — its breath of life removed from it by an ocean of debris.
We see it clearly in the Bible: “And when the dragon saw that he was cast down to the Earth, he pursued the Woman who had brought forth the male Child. … And the serpent cast out of his mouth after the Woman water like a river, that he might cause Her to be carried away by the river” Apocalypse 12:13, 15.
And did not Mary warn us as to what this verse means?
That Her “adversary, the red dragon, has unleashed against Me” this ocean of debris, “vomiting from his mouth a river of water to submerge Me. The river of water is made up of the collection of all the new theological doctrines, which have sought to obscure the image of your heavenly Mother, to deny Her privileges, to restructure devotion to Her, and to cast ridicule upon all those who are devoted to Her. Because of these attacks of the dragon, in these years, piety toward Me has steadily diminished among many of the faithful and, in some places, has even disappeared” To the Priests, Our Lady’s Beloved Sons, message given May 6, 1989.
Is this not exactly the situation we find ourselves in not only in devotion to Mary as our Queen, but in another simple Truth?
For it was 25 years ago this week that 40 scientists from around the world with the most prestigious degrees academia has to offer examined a cloth with the Image of a Crucified Man on it.
And, at the close of their 5-day investigation, the Church would begin its search for a new pontiff upon the unexpected death of John Paul I.
A “coincidence”?
Was it an accident that as the Shroud proved itself to be the enigma it is, one man would emerge as a surprising choice from a conclave of cardinals that astounded the world with its selection of an “outsider”?
A man who would be not only be the first Polish pope, but would dedicate his entire papacy to one Woman: Totus Tuus; “Totally Yours,” in consecration, as St. Louis de Montfort taught, to the Immaculata.
The very same Woman who held Her Son in Her arms one last earthly time as She laid Him to rest in a linen cloth.
A linen cloth that now was — as the choice of Karol Wojtyla — astounding the world with its mysteries.
Mysteries unraveled but not solved by Space Age technology.
A 2,000-year-old cloth that proved the Image of the Crucified One was made from dehydrated and oxidized fibers, but how is the scientific enigma; faith in the Resurrection the answer!
A linen cloth that proved no paint made the Image.
A cloth that contained enormous amounts of bloodstains on it — formed from the world’s rarest blood that is found particularly in one population: the majority of whom live in a region called Palestine!
Bloodstains that were formed BEFORE the Image was made, yet were anatomically correct and interferred with the Image-making process! Where there is blood, there is NO Image!
Bloodstains from a tremendous scourging of the Body; from a sharp circular object puncturing the entire scalp; from nail wounds; and, most astoundingly, from a pointed instrument that perfectly matches the shape and size of a 1st-century Roman lance!
A bloodstain from this side wound that in actuality is a postmortem flow!
And the list does go on.
We remember when we first met Dr. John Heller, one of the members of the Shroud of Turin Research Project, who with his Orthodox Jewish partner, Dr. Alan Adler, identified the scientific fact that this was truly human blood on this ancient cloth.
Now, 25 years later, we still hear the idiots who claim there is no blood on the Shroud and that paint makes the Image!
In our interview two decades ago with Heller, he stated to us personally that he “could not wait to get to his hands on” the samples taken from the Shroud so he could “prove that Catholic relic was a fake.”
Dr. Heller was betting on the cloth being a painting.
He wanted it to be a painting.
He did not believe in “relics” nor Catholicism.
John Heller, a man who actually did experiments involving the cloth, became a believer in the Shroud’s authenticity.
He knew.
His scientific mind could not be fooled.
The evidence was clear.
Unlike the critics, he only need accept it.
When we asked Heller about those who continue to claim the Shroud is a painting, he stated the “onus” is not on the cloth, but on the naysayers.
To counteract the findings of Dr. Adler and Dr. Heller, the critics called these two men of science “religious zealots.”
Unfortunately, the true “religious zealots” are not to be found in the world of sindonology.
They are found in the world of anti-Catholicism.
They are found in the world of antichrists.
Those who refuse to recognize the Holy Face of Jesus on the Shroud.
Those who refuse to recognize Mary as their God-given Mother.
Those who refuse to recognize the miracle of Karol Wojtyla’s selection by the Holy Spirit as the Vicar of Christ.
And Karol was the choice of the Holy Spirit for two essential reasons at this time in the world’s history.
It is not because he is a perfect human being.
Or that he is infallible (for he is not).
Indeed, it is not even Wojtyla’s governance of the Church which the Holy Spirit sought, for surely there were and are better candidates for that if this were the paramount need of our Lord today.
The reason Karol Wojtyla is the pope today and has been for 25 years is mirrored in the spiritual battle.
A battle in which it is essential to recognize the Face of Christ and the Queenship of Mary.
In this, there is no better candidate than Karol Wojtyla and the very reason the Holy Spirit ensured his ascendancy to the Chair of Peter 25 years ago.
A time when the Lord was proving scientifically to a skeptical world that He is real and that His Resurrection was beyond question nor could it be doubted.
And a reality that Karol Wojtyla recognized on a cloth called the Shroud of Turin.
And it has been a need for the Blessed Ever-Virgin Mary, as the Mother of Mercy, to ensure the world has had a chance to reconcile itself to Her Son before He comes as the Just Judge.
There was no better candidate for this action on behalf of our Queen than Karol Wojtyla. He was formed in his mother’s womb for this very purpose.
And Karol, as Pope John Paul II, has performed his duties to the utmost, traveling from nation to nation, city to city, shrine to shrine, Saint to Saint, and all points in between.
He has preached the Gospel of Reconciliation.
He has preached the Gospel of Resurrection.
He has fulfilled his duty to his God and Queen.
He has ensured the Shroud was venerated during the Great Jubilee Year of Divine Mercy with the proof of the Blood and Water revealed on its very linen fibers!
But the evil one has been busy, just as busy as John Paul II.
The great red dragon of the Apocalypse has been busy “vomiting from his mouth a river of water to submerge” the Truth of the Shroud and Queenship of Mary.
Against the Truth of the burial cloth of our Savior and the intercession of our Advocate, the dragon has unleashed a “river of water” “made up of the collection of all the new theological doctrines, which have sought to obscure the image” on the Shroud and our “heavenly Mother.”
The serpent has ensured that the world has “cast ridicule upon all those who are devoted to” the Shroud and the Image of the Holy Face, as well as Mary’s Immaculate Conception.
And “because of these attacks of the dragon, in these years, piety toward” our God and our Queen “has steadily diminished among many of the faithful and, in some places, has even disappeared”; when, instead, the scientific Truths of the Shroud and the example of John Paul should have increased devotion to Jesus and Mary.
There will be no excuse for those who claim, “I did not know; there was no evidence.”
And in that evidence it is critical to comprehend that the Holy Spirit has ensured that the Shroud is NOT in the possession of another “church”; another person.
The Shroud has been in the possession of the Catholic Church, the Church whose vicar is consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary; the Church who proclaims Her to be not only the Queen of Heaven and Earth, but the Immaculate Conception.
The Church that believes not only in the Blood and Water of Divine Mercy, but in the Eucharist as the Body and Blood of eternal life.
And the Shroud has only one owner on this planet: the Vicar of Christ, one John Paul II, who 25 years ago in September, just a few weeks before he ascended to the Chair of Peter, venerated the burial cloth of Christ as a cardinal during an exhibition in Turin.
An exhibition that at the end would find scientists from around the world intensely scrutinizing 24 hours a day for five intensive days that which they wished to dismiss, but were forced to embrace.
And a scientific investigation that will find at the end of its time a new man sitting in the Chair of Peter, the very cardinal who had venerated the cloth but a month before, Karol Wojtyla.
These Truths of the Shroud, Mary and the vicar are not accidents.
They are the Voice of God speaking loud and clear to a world drowning out its Savior’s Love in an ocean of debris.
Where does that leave us today as we review 25 years of lies and deception against the Shroud and Mary?
As we head into the dark night, we may find the next Miracle of the Sun is not its spinning and dancing in the sky as it did in 1917, but, instead, its nightmare figure of an orb draped
in black.
Draped in the three days of darkness as a chastisement for a world that continues to reject the shining countenance of the Holy Face of Jesus; draped in black as the graces dispensed by the Mother of Mercy in reconciliation are removed from mankind for listening to and believing in 25 years of lies and deception.
Twenty-five years that do not celebrate the life of a pontiff, but recall to God as a Just Judge the outrageous acceptance by His creation of the lies and deceptions “the serpent cast out of his mouth after the Woman” — and against the Holy Face of Passion once worn and left on a simple linen cloth by the male Child, His Son, that the Woman Clothed Witht the Sun brought forth.
