| The Reason for the Scandal in the Church: Who Has Been Ignored? |
|||||||||||||||||||||
| From St. Peter to John Paul the Great: who is missing to protect the Church? | |||||||||||||||||||||
| The euphoria is over. The 25th anniversary of John Paul’s pontificate has come and gone and, once again, where are we now? Are we in a better position as a result? The Year of the Rosary has now passed as well. What changes have been effected? Or are we in the same scandalous position the Church has been in for the last few years? We, as Catholics, look down our noses at the episcopalians as they struggle with the victorious election of an openly gay bishop, who, long divorced from his wife, lives with his male lover and blatantly acknowledges their sexual relationship. Even Cardinal Ratzinger, with the approval of John Paul, wrote to the conservative branch of this schismatic sect during their Texas meeting to encourage their defiance of a hierarchy gone terribly wrong. A hierarchy that does not see the scandal of an openly gay bishop; an outrage and anomaly in the 2,000-year history of Christianity by anyone’s logical review of politics in the Church — any church! Just more proof of the proverbial “end times” we are truly living. Indeed, this type of scandal so outraged our Russian orthodox brothers that not only did they disbar a heretical priest who, for money, married two gay men; but the church where the illegal rite was performed was razed as quickly as possible due to the desecration the blasphemous ceremony represented. But our Church is no better. Not our bishops, nor our priests. The Weakland scandal, a bishop in the Catholic Church who admitted to a homosexual affair, continues to rear its ugly and perverted head. And the fact that bishops and priests conspire against the laity when it comes to destroying the Sacred Traditions of the Church are an outrage — an outrage embodied recently in the desecration of an Altar where the Latin Mass was once said for over a century. An Altar that, despite the fact that the Sacrifice of our Savior was commemorated on it, wound up in a trash bin behind a parish Church that was being stripped and renovated of its Truth! We can only ask the question again: how did we get here? There are so many factors that it is almost impossible to list them all. But there are, however, a few keys that must be used to unlock the “secret” of why this scandal persists. It is just the weakness of the human bishops and priests? Is it the perversion of documents that gave us the so-called “spirit of Vatican II”? Is it the vision of Pope Leo XIII that the evil one would be allowed 100 years to try to destroy the Church of our Lord? Is it the simple Truth that the Church has disobeyed its Queen not once but three times? First, by not consecrating Russia when asked; second, by ignoring the requests of Our Lady of America, and third, continuing to backburner the “Final Marian Dogma”! These, and many more reasons, especially those involving irreverence toward the Blessed Sacrament, are completely valid when examining the scandalous state of the Church today and how it got into this position. A Church that is not far off from experimenting in the same way that the episcopalians have done, especially when the current pontiff is soon called home after 25 years of service to Mary. While these factors had, and continue to have, an incredible impact on the current state of affairs in Catholicism, there is, however, a far more profound reason why we are in the condition we find ourselves. For we have NOT availed ourselves of that which the Lord wants us to do. That which the Lord commands us to do. In fact, we have ignored this avenue. Probably, this Truth is thus a great source of annoyance to our Savior since this ignorance insults the very someone whom He loves very dearly. For it is imperative to understand that our Church — whether at the top with the Holy Father, the cardinals, bishops, and pastors of souls, as well as the laity — have been ignoring the one person who has the capability to RESCUE the Catholic Church from its plight. It is not another vicar. And while anyone who reads this web site knows full well we constantly beg and plead that there be no substitute anymore for the Lord Himself, we must, in order to bring about the Kingship of Christ, go through the Chain of Command. And, yes, that, of course, involves invoking the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. But that IS something that the Holy Father, many cardinals, bishops, and pastors of souls, as well as the laity HAVE done! So what could possibly be the key we are speaking of that is lacking? Who then is the MASTER key that can unlock this door to ensure the “gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church” — especially when we see more and more the “smoke of satan” in the Sanctuary? Many, being Catholics of great spiritual knowledge, might now be guessing we are going to speak about St. Michael. But it is not St. Michael who has been ignored. It is St. Joseph! The very man whom God Himself chose to be the protector and guardian of the only begotten Son of the Father! The very man who rescued the Holy Child from the snares of the evil king Herod! The very man who had our God as his obedient Child on Earth. And we, as Catholics, have forgotten something critical about St. Joseph. First, his name in Hebrew means “to increase.” Do we want to “increase” our blessings and prayers for the Church? We need to go to St. Joseph! But most importantly, in 1870 — 14 years before the vision of Leo XIII — Pope Pius IX declared St. Joseph, as the foster father of Jesus, the PATRON OF THE UNIVERSAL CHURCH! In other words, if we want to ask for God’s protection of the Catholic Church, surely we can go to our Lord; surely we can go to His Mother, but by NOT going to St. Joseph we are circumventing the Chain of Command that our orderly God loves! And we are ignoring the very person God has put in charge of protecting His Church! This is the exact mistake protest-ants make believing they have no need of any other “intercessor” because they can go right to Jesus. Yes, of course, they can. But it doesn’t always please Him! And in the reality that the Lord inspired His “Pius” vicar to declare St. Joseph the Patron of the Church prior to the vision Jesus allowed the “Lion” to see regarding the final battle for the Rock, it is apparent, as always, that our Lord was setting things up. He was, in fact, giving us a way to ensure we would have the necessary firepower to defeat the plans of the evil one. For the Lord does not need any help or intercession to completely obliterate the fallen angels; it is those of us who are in the thick of the Great Spiritual Battle that desperately need to comprehend the necessity of power far beyond that of our mortal abilities! And St. Joseph has it! But we, in our “busi-ness” (read “busy ness”), neglect the Chain of Command. We, instead, go right to the top, Jesus Himself, or to the Mother of the Church. We invoke the Rosary and plead with God for His aid, for His Mother’s graces. But we do not include someone our Lord WANTS included! As we head into an unknown future with the soon-to-be changing of the guard in the Catholic hierarchy, we cannot afford to ignore the Patron of the Universal Church any longer. It is IMPERATIVE that we not only call upon his assistance, but claim it in the Name of our Lord! And this is a perfect time to do so. This is the month of October. A month that saw the 25th anniversary of Mary’s pope. The end of an extraordinary Year of the Rosary. Yet, we have still not progressed, because we have not gone to Joseph! From St. Joseph’s Missal, we would like to recommend the long-forgotten prayer to the Patron of the Universal Church. A prayer, we pray, will bring the necessary graces and protection to our Church that is in desperate straits, despite what the “happy” talk people claim. It is a prayer to be said to St. Joseph in the month of October. One of our very wise readers asked us what can we, as believers, do to change that which appears to be unchangeable and disastrous for the future of the Rock. It is, as our Lord always provides, simple. We can bring out the biggest gun we have yet to utilize: the firepower of St. Joseph, who as the Head of the Holy Family, the Holy Child cannot deny. Therefore, if we care to turn the ship of state around, we ask that this prayer be said, not only in the month of October, but in any time of Church distress. (Think of praying this prayer during the conclave of cardinals electing a new pontiff!) For as another prayer states, as it does to our great Queen: “Remember O most pure spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, my sweet protector St. Joseph! that no one ever had recourse to thy protection or implored thy aid without obtaining relief! Confiding therefore in thy goodness, I come before thee, and humbly supplicate thee [especially on behalf of the needs of the Church]. Oh, despise not my petitions, foster-father of the Redeemer, but graciously receive them!” Indulgence of 300 days, once a day; Pius IX, June 26, 1863. In reminding St. Joseph of his role as the Head of the Holy Family where — in the orderliness of God’s Universe — the Blessed Virgin and Holy Child love and continue to be attentive and acquiesce to their beloved’s request, we invoke, on behalf of Catholicism, for its protection, the October Devotion to the Patron of the Universal Church To thee, O Blessed Joseph, do we fly in our tribulation, and having implored the help of thy most holy Spouse, we confidently crave thy patronage also. Through that charity which bound thee to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God, and through the paternal love with which thou didst embrace the Child Jesus, we humbly beseech thee graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ hath purchased by His Blood, and with thy power and strength to aid us in our necessities. O most watchful Guardian of the Divine Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ; O most loving father, ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our most mighty protector, be propitious to us and from Heaven assist us in this struggle with the powers of darkness; and, as once thou didst rescue the Child Jesus from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity: shield, too, each one of us by thy constant protection, so that, supported by thine example and thine aid, we may be able to live piously, to die holily, and to obtain eternal happiness in Heaven. Amen. Indulgences: seven years and seven quarantines, if said after the Rosary in October; or 300 days, once a day, at other times. Leo XIII, August 15, 1889. As we are sure that the battle for the Catholic Church will heat up upon the passing of Mary’s pope, we implore all our fellow believers to invoke the essential protection of St. Joseph. A protection even the Holy Child chose to use! And we also recommend that each and every one of us return to strengthening the Mass in our own personal way. We can easily due this by ensuring each Mass begins with our private invocation of the five prayers Mary and the Angel gave to the children of Fatima BEFORE the opening procession begins (the prayers “My God, I believe, I adore, I trust, etc.” “O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee, I offer Thee the most Precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity, etc.” “O Most Holy Trinity, I adore Thee; my God, my God, I love Thee in the Most Blessed Sacrament!” “O my Jesus, it is for the Love of Thee, in reparation for the offenses committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary [and then make an offering pleasing to God; NOT for personal needs!], etc.” “O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of hell, etc.” To further this strengthening, avoid receiving Holy Communion in the hand; one can even genuflect before receiving, and certainly, one should not stand and sing after receiving, but remain on one’s knees until the priest calls for the final prayer. Then, at the end of the Mass, when everyone else thinks it is a good idea to chitchat and socialize, those who want to win the spiritual battle should REMAIN in their pews, pull down their kneelers and get to work! After every Mass, whether High or Low, pray three Hail Marys, one Hail Holy Queen, and the St. Michael prayer composed by Pope Leo after his vision of the final battle for the Church! Upon completing the St. Michael prayer, do not forget to remain kneeling, touch your heart and repeat three times: “Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!” These actions will — without a doubt — STRENGTHEN and help make Holy the offering of the Mass no matter how weak the priest or congregation may be. And no matter whether we see the difference we are making, the Lord will reward those who are diligent in being attentive to His needs and not our own! For we, as individuals, CAN make a difference! Why? It is not the Lord’s, the Blessed Virgin, St. Joseph, or even totally the pope’s fault (although, as anyone who reads our web site knows, we vehemently disagree with John Paul democratizing the reign of his bishops and not taking a firmer hold) as to why the Church is in the sad state it is in today. The true fault for the state of the Church today rests with us: the laity! For we have not invoked the Chain of Command. We have not taken advantage of the weapon the Lord Jesus has provided us with before the vision of battle Leo foresaw. We have not run to Joseph! And we have not asked St. Joseph in defense of the Church — who was so instrumental in the First Coming of our Lord — to bring about the Second Coming and Reign of the Sacred Hearts. The Twin Hearts the Head of the Divine Family loves more, knows more intimately, and can secure more graces and favors from than anyone in the history of the Universe! St. Joseph, model and patron of those who love the Sacred Heart of Jesus, pray for us! © 2003 Agnus Dei Presents! |
