Agnus Dei Presents!
How to Read
Our
‘Poetry’
and
‘Fairytale Beliefs’

“Letters, we get letters.
We get stacks and stacks of letters … .”

From the 1950s Perry Como Show

for those who remember

(not to give away our age, for we barely remember this song; we were just toddlers)!
We love our mail.

And, as anyone can imagine, it is not always from those who like what we are doing.

It has its dialectic moments and that’s what we treasure.

In our last edition, we were able, through the experience of a convert, to focus on what’s wrong with our Church as so many have lost the central tenet regarding not only belief but love for Christ in Eucharist.

This edition, we want to tackle what someone else sees as our
“fairytale” world.

This person is truly educated in the world of mythology.

The same myths we are well familiar with.

The problem is that, as their e-mail indicates, they equate these myths as being legends from which the Gospels gain their material.

Nothing could be further from the Truth.

One of the biggest problems for people who believe this nonsense is that they truly think they have a sense of time.  This came first, then this second, until finally it becomes the Jesus “myth” that they can easily dismiss.

NOT SO FAST, greyhound.

You think you’re running ahead of the pack, but instead you’re behind it!

The first problem this type of person faces is their disbelief that there is a being Jesus identified as the
“father of lies.” A being who, as an archangel, once served God and knows the Most Holy Trinity better than any of us here on Earth do.  It was his rebellious cry of “i will not serve” that caused the downfall of satan.

But, of course, there can be no downfall if one does not believe that such an angelic being who is now the enemy of mankind exists!

And as any believer can tell anyone, that is the devil’s greatest weapon.

Another of his weapons is what we call time.

The evil one has had all the time to deceive mankind since he first lied to God’s creation way back when.  In trying to convince mankind that we could be
“as gods,” he has given us a plethora of “gods’ to worship.  Just as long as they are not the real God, it is a “victory” of rebellion for the evil one.

Among his greatest victories was bringing the myths of the gods to the Greeks and Romans.  (This is where so many protest-ants get mixed up with Mary as a substitute “goddess.”  It is the same error people make equating Jesus with the “gods” of old.)

And as our dialectic reader points out, so many of these false deities have many of the same characteristics that we love and worship in our true God today.

That’s the point!

For the evil one cannot create anything new for he is not God!  Since he is not a “creator” but a destroyer, he can only mimic the Truth of the Creator.

As we did with a letter we totally agreed with, we will quote this letter verbatim despite the fact that we totally disagree with his (and we will not correct typos!):

“Its late and I sit here reading your poetry and your fairytale beliefs with as much calm as I care to muster.  ‘The greatest story ever told’ borrows to from other stories. The flood myth of Gilgamesh.  The greek god Dionysus was also believed to be taken inside you when you drank wine just as Christ is when you drink His blood.  Odin was wounded with a spear and hung upon the world tree Yggdrasil just as Christ was wounded and hung on the cross.  Which is ‘unhistorical’ to use your own phrase in that those who were crucified in the time of Christ were not crucified on a piece of wood which stood in the shape of a ‘t’. But upon a straight wooden beam - ‘I’.  I don't know whether you imagine hollywood to be in league with ‘The Father of Lies’ as you are so loved to quote because your life is otherwise uninteresting and it pleases you to imagine a great spiritual battle being fought so to color your otherwise grey lifestyle, or if you are using religion with a childlike imagination so to wage your own personal war of words upon pop culture because you (As the rest of us) have become disenchanted with the abuse of sexuality and the lack of intelligent writing. It seems to me you write with the pretencious inner-turmoil, fervor, and poetry of the newly converted or the young.”

First and foremost, thank you that at least you see our articles as being written with
“fervor and poetry” but it is NOT of the “newly converted or the young”!  That’s why we quoted the little song that was sung to Perry Como at the beginning of this article.  Young we wish we were.  Newly converted?  Born and raised Catholic is the answer and perhaps before this critic saw the light of day we turned our backs on the faith!  It was in our youth that we attended that infamous 3-day music festival known as Woodstock!

We were too busy partying to have time for Jesus!

As for our returning to our faith, it became serious when, as a reporter for a major metropolitan newspaper that fights a never-ending battle for Truth, justice and the American way, we met professionally with Space Age scientists involved with the
Shroud of Turin Research Project.  We continued to meet them and maintain relationships when we worked in the aerospace industry (on many a secret project, we might add).

And that — to our good dialectic friend who we respect — is why we can state we do not have a
“grey lifestyle” as we once were where he is believing Jesus is just a “myth” (plus, we have kids; anyone out there raising children who have a gray lifestyle? We have since been blessed to be granted something that most adults are lacking:  the childlike faith Jesus insists on, or as this reader called it:  “childlike imagination”!

But there is, in the 3rd Millennium, a tremendous difference between those who see Jesus as a myth and those in sindonology who have concrete historical, scientific, and most importantly, VISUAL evidence for the Truth that Jesus IS the Son of God (just as the 1st-century Christians did)!

You see, we can argue all day and night and use our best poetic skills (that’s a laugh, since we have none!) to convince someone like this reader that they are wrong.  We have a thought process that if the writings of the Apostles will not convince someone, how could we, when we have such less skill and personal interaction with the Savior of mankind?

We write with the
“fervor” of the “newly converted” because EVERYDAY is another incredible walk with the Lord! EVERYDAY is a faith test!

And when we encounter those who do not know the Lord, it is the saddest part for us.  For we know if anyone has been to our web site, there is no chance that they have not seen the
Face of Christ during their visit.  It is something we have ensured for two reasons:  those who believe will know we are serious and realize we do not take lightly the Truth that we — as everyone — will have to account for our words, poetic or not, before the Just Judge.  Those who do not believe have a chance to look at the Holy Face of Christ in His Passion and say, as only they can within their hearts, “Yes, it’s Him,” or “No, I do not recognize Him.”

When one chooses the latter, one is, in effect, repeating the very phrase that caused lucifer to be cast out of Heaven when he said,
“i will not serve.” One has entered into the “fantasy” world of  “hollywood” and — wittingly or unwittinlgy — placed themselves
“in league with ‘The Father of Lies.’ ”

And it is not
“Dionysus” or “Odin” who can save you.

To our good friend who stayed up
“late” to “sit” there “reading” our “poetry and ... fairytale beliefs with as much calm as I care to muster,” why do you bother?  Is it something within you that forces you to justify the fantasy world you are living in, in which there is NO Great Spiritual Battle?

Is it your comprehension of “mythology” that makes you think you are superior to those who believe in a God who allowed Himself to be hung on a wooden Cross for you, as well as for all of us?

(And by the way, the “I” beam as you refer to it, which is properly called the “stipe,” was always in the ground waiting for the next crucifixion victim.  But what you did not mention is the Truth that the Romans forced their prisoners to carry a crossbeam across their back which would then be affixed to the stipe to hang the victim from.  This crossbeam weighed 70 to 100 pounds and its mark across the back of Christ can easily be seen on the
Shroud today, proving that the cloth is archaeologically correct; while the images we see in the Stations of the Cross are a medieval artistic error depicting Jesus carrying a T-bar.)

With great love and compassion for someone who is blinded in the spiritual battle as we once were, we say to you, you are correct, there are many myths that can be misconstrued to make you believe the egg came before the chicken.

But Christ is the Truth and the myths you so rightfully point out are perversions given to mankind by the very enemy you believe does not exist.

For us, the battle is easy.  But for you, as a skeptic, you can believe all the nonsense you want that allows your logical mind to dismiss the
Shroud as a fake, for there are plenty of “myths” about the burial cloth of Christ.  The problem is, our friend, if you truly examine each criticism (or to be more exact, “lies”) regarding the cloth — whether inaccurate historical or scientific claims — you will find the facts bear witness to the reality that NO ONE can duplicate nor explain how the Image of a Crucified Man has withstood 2,000 years on a linen cloth that, if it were normal, should not even exist anymore!

But that, our friend, is not for the
“newly converted.” That takes years of true research and peer-reviewed science!

For you our dear reader who musters as much calm as you care to muster as you read the Truth of the
Great Spiritual Battle, we do not have a myth.  We have a reality.  A reality that God Himself has left us on a cloth that you and no one else can debunk.  And a reality that we will all face when we all face death.

But please don’t read our
“poetry” and “fairytale beliefs,” for obviously that only infuriates you.

Therefore, to argue the science of the
Shroud with you means NOTHING!

What is more important is what does the
Face on the Shroud say to you?

Does it
“infuriate” you?

Or is the
“poetry” of the Passion of Christ a “fairytale” to you?

Only you can answer that question.

We pray that His Mother, the
Mediatrix of All Graces, will give you the eyes, heart and mind not to see myths, but to see the Face of your Savior.

2003 Agnus Dei Presents!
Is Jesus nothing more than a ‘legend,’ a ‘fairytale’ belief?
Are all ‘gods’ just a change of aliases like switching from
Clark Kent to the Man of Steel?
Or is there evidence that speaks louder not only to the heart,
but to the mind?!
dionysus, aka bacchus
The Lord leaves an Image of
His Resurrection that the
world cannot even discover
until photography is invented, and the creation has the audacity to equate Him with ‘myths’!  There will be an accounting for this, for no one can say,
‘I did not know,’ or ‘You did not provide me with evidence!’
