| For Every Day of the New Year Giving God the Gift That Keeps on Giving |

| Want to do something special for God? Something that takes little effort but goes a long way. Tired of passing the homeless on the street or others who are down and out and not knowing what to do for them? Sick of those who pretend they are soliciting money for charity outside your grocery store or other public areas? Don’t want to give them, or others like the alcoholics on our streets, money because you really don’t know if you’re helping or hurting people? Can’t even tell where your money is going when you give it to a charity? Here, then, is a simple way to exhibit Christian charity at its best and not be concerned with the results or the unknown economic factors. In fact, this method of charity applies for those who you see in the street, at the grocery store, movies or any other public activity where you know, in your heart of hearts, that the person(s) in question is not a believer. They may even be in danger of eternal damnation because of their behavior. Don’t want to argue the Gospel with them? Don’t want to get involved? In this day and age, it is an understandable position, although we do not, as Christians, want to be in the position of those who left the victim in their need as the Lord spoke of in the Gospels. We all want to be — safely — the Good Samaritan He spoke of. Then, in the New Year, try this if you wish. Pray for these souls — all of them. Now, we know many of you reading this already do this. But there is a special prayer we would like to recommend regarding any of the above situations or similar ones not mentioned. It is a simple prayer and one, perhaps, that will do the most good for those individuals who strike our hearts and consciences. It goes like this: Father, Jesus, Mary I love You; save souls. I give You my human will. Divine Will, come, reign in me. I am nothing; God is everything! And that’s it. Don’t worry about it anymore. Leave it to Them! You have offered the soul(s) and the prayer. It is now up to the Father, Son, Holy Spirit and Their Queen what graces will be granted to the soul as a result of your intercession. You’ve seen the person stuck on the side of the freeway and can’t get to them. Don’t know what to do about that teenager who looks so weird and demonic? Hopefully, as we have learned, here is a solution you can embrace and practice, day in and day out. There are never enough opportunities to say this prayer. And who knows, when, and if, we get to Heaven, we will find out if we helped God with a gift to Him that keeps on giving with a treasure He loves more than anything else in the Universe: souls! May all who attempt this devotion save as many souls as God will decree! Happy Soul-Saving New Year! |
