| Words Count: Hail to the Chief or Hail Mary? UN Chief Inspector ‘Hails’ Iraq |
|||||||||||
| Today, Iraq is supposedly to begin destroying some of its illegal missiles. According to MSNBC, the chief UN inspector, Hans Blix, “hails” Iraq for this decision. This a very strong and odd word to use in this situation. Whether Blix actually said it or the headline writer — as they so often do — put words in the UN inspector’s mouth matters not. Why? Because we live in a world where, whether we know it or not, words count. As the Lord said, for “every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the Day of Judgment” Matthew 12:36. We understand that most people do not give this concept much thought. That is because, in reality, they really do not believe that the Lord will truly judge us on this or any other “sin” for that matter. The bottom line is, they think there is no retribution for what they do. We see this all around us. Then there are others, like the biblical idiot protest-ants (BIPs), who believe no matter what their sins are, a God of Justice completely “forgives” them after they have said the “sinner’s prayer.” They reduce Jesus’ Work on a Cross to a free ride to sin the rest of one’s life. It’s easy to prove this, whether we are discussing believers or non-believers. How? Just think how many careless words people say every day, whether to each other or just in their own personal frustration. This is the proof that they truly do not believe. It is like saying the Lord’s Name in vain, a clear sign that the individual who engages in this behavior is truly NOT a disciple of Christ. Or how many eagerly denigrate Mary’s messages as “tricks of the devil.” There will be accounting for their words on the Day of Judgment, which, when it happens, we pray we will be nowhere near as the Lord’s Justice falls on the heads of the guilty. And before anyone accuses us of a “holier than thou” attitude, we comprehend why we — as well as every individual in the world — all fall short of the Glory of God. As fallible human beings, we are all in desperate need of Divine Mercy, a feast that is upcoming the Sunday after Easter — and one that quickly approaches. The reason we all need this feast is so that we do NOT have to render an account for EVERY idle word we have spoken. This feast is truly the only way out of this insurmountable “idle word” Judgment. Today, so few understand this simple — yet powerful — admonition of the Lord, that without His Divine Mercy, we will make an account of everything we have said and done. At the same time, we will also make an account for the things we have failed to say or do. In this regard, we are living in a world where people REFUSE to say “Hail Mary.” There is a word count going on here and Heaven is counting. People instead, as the MSNBC headliners noted, will “hail” Iraq — a nation led by an evil terrorist. Think of all those who jump up and down when they see sad man insein or the other idiot who runs North Korea. Please don’t think this makes us as a nation any better as many of our own citizens will play “Hail to the Chief,” while they, too, ignore Mary. We bet our bottom spiritual dollar that these same people who can hum the tune to “Hail to the Chief,” do not know the words to the prayer, Salve Regina: Hail Holy Queen. But amazingly, our world does not get it. It is the propaganda of the evil one who “cast out of his mouth after the Woman water like a river, that he may cause Her to be carried away [this is propaganda against Mary and praying to Her]. … And the dragon was angered at the Woman [who had brought forth the male Child], and went away to wage war with the rest of Her offspring, who keep the Commandments of God, and hold fast the testimony of Jesus” Apocalypse 12:15, 17. How do we know this passage refers to Mary? Who else gave birth to the “Child”? In this war — a war made up of signs, symbols and words — we see the careless use of the word “hail” by those who do not comprehend that it truly denotes a “royal greeting.” Its origins are in “Hail caesar,” and biblically, “Hail, King of the Jews,” as well as the Archangel Gabriel’s greeting to Mary, “Hail, full of grace!” This is the critical context of why God ensured the original Bible did not have Gabriel say, “rejoice” to Mary, but “Hail”! And so, instead of Mary, we have the chief UN inspector, according to the sidebar headline in the linked story, “hailing” Iraq for agreeing to destroy its illegal missiles. What about Mary, Mr. Blix, or Mr. Gates of MSNBC? Do either of you think your work or your money will get you past the Pearly Gates? Whether we are “hailing” the actions of Iraq, or our own chief executive, “peace” activists, our local “pastor” or “minister,” CEO, astronauts, military personnel, or whoever, it really doesn’t matter. That is NOT the spiritual point. The point is neither George Bush nor any other person on this entire planet is the one the Lord is looking for us to follow. Who does He want us to follow? The Woman John Paul II follows! When our president, George Bush, met with Pope John Paul II in August 2001 — before the WTC attack — the leader of America said that the pontiff is a man who is a role model; one that we should all follow. There are not many things we agree with George Bush on. This, however, is certainly one of them. For John Paul is following Mary, the Woman Christ the King wants us all to follow. The Woman who followed Him. And we all know one thing that John Paul II has done consistently in his life and his papacy. It is not to “hail” Iraq or America’s president. It is to Hail the Woman who leads Christ the King’s Army in the fight against evil. It is, as the pontiff does day in and day out, to say, “Hail Mary,” and “Hail Holy Queen.” This is to say and do what God wants us to do. It is the most humble and childlike confidence we can offer to Him: to get into the Army of Mary, the Woman Clothed With the Sun, who will soon lead God’s children to Her ultimate victory: the Triumph of Her Immaculate Heart. For the Hail Mary is a prayer that is not vain and repetitious, since you are not praying about yourself and asking for your needs over and over again. Instead, it is like the No. 1 song in your heart that you never grow weary of hearing again and again. It is Heaven's No. 1 hit. Would any great artist, like Frank Sinatra, sing his No. 1 hit song weakly, no matter how many times he had sung it before? Would his audience ever grow weary of hearing it? We need to sing Heaven's No. 1 song out loud and clear. When George Bush gets on his knees and takes his own advice by following John Paul II as his role model and begins to pray the “Hail Mary” for guidance, leadership and peace, we will then know that he — or any other president — is one worthy for us to follow. Until then, please do not make the claim that he is our “Lady’s president” because his election was solidified on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. What has he done to stop abortion? Did he listen to the pope’s advice in August of 2001 to not permit “stem cell” research? Research that was being conducted aboard the space shuttle Columbia before the tragedy. Indeed, two weeks after the pope’s admonition to the president for the U.S. not to engage in stem cell research, Bush gave the go-ahead. Two weeks later, the WTC attack occurred. Perhaps the president should have gotten on his knees before his decision and prayed the Rosary instead. Things might have gone quite differently. Until the rest of the world comprehends the battle over Mary, we are truly fighting an uphill battle. But those are the battles the Lord likes best. After all, He does have all the power. For when the odds seem completely against His people, as they do now, that is when the victory occurs. We will not attain this victory through UN inspectors who “hail” Iraq; we will not attain it through those who play “Hail to the Chief.” We will only attain it by continuing to get on our knees and praying, “Hail Mary!” © 2003 Agnus Dei Presents! |

| An Iraqi missile peacefully awaits its destruction. For that is its destiny. It will be destroyed either by Iraqi hands, or in use against enemy hands (in this case that means us), or by U.S. hands before it's used against us. There is one more alternative. Our troops need not face a hail of hidden Iraqi missiles, which may never be found to be destroyed by the UN or US. All missiles and Weapons of Mass Destruction can be destroyed by His Hand, if we but pray and ask. |
